Patrick Ewing is a former professional basketball player and a coach, widely regarded as one of the greatest centers to ever play the game. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, and raised in Washington, D.C., Ewing’s basketball journey began in his youth, and he quickly became a standout player in high school and college. He later attended Georgetown University, where he played under legendary coach John Thompson and led the Georgetown Hoyas to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, including a national championship game in 1982.

Ewing was selected 1st overall in the 1985 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks, and he went on to have a storied career in the NBA, primarily with the Knicks, but also with the Seattle SuperSonics and Orlando Magic. Known for his dominant presence in the paint, his exceptional shot-blocking ability, and his offensive skills, Ewing became one of the league’s most respected and feared players.

Over his career, Patrick Ewing was an 11-time NBA All-Star, a 2-time Olympic Gold Medalist, and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008. He played for 17 seasons in the NBA before retiring in 2002.
